Hello,
I know that there are many threads onthis, ut since you all are so knowledgable it might be easier since this is a first for me.
I have a 1986 FJ60, what is a drop in for diesel. I have the 3B bellhousing, do I need to convert the tranny as well as the motor. Any advice would be great. I am heading to C. America to pick up some parts. Thanks

The 2H and 12HT are the closest to a "drop in" diesel engine in a FJ60.
Everything else needs welding and its own gearbox.
They all need their own radiator

If you want to weld new frame brackets onto the chassis ,then you could also consider something more exotic like a 1HZ or 1HD T.
These 2 engines will give better power than the 2F,

The 12HT will also give good power but is becoming hard to find good low klm units.
I had one for sale in my area this week and they wanted $3000 for a complete 12HT with 500000 klms supposedly in good running condition;)\

Central America mmm,I didnt know they had lots of diesels in Kansas:D

Minor hijack here. Are you saying I wouldn't need to weld in new engine mounts to convert from a 2F to 12H-T? This is the conversion I'm starting on. It would be super sweet to not mess with the engine mounts.

Thanks,

Chris

Ive never done it but I beleive it will drop in with no welding.
I think you may need new rubber mounts though.

I am in the middle of converting an 89 FJ62 frame to work with my 12HT swap. I can assure you the engine mounts are different.

FJ to Diesel

Well...first hand knolage of this conversion.....since I am about half way there. I am putting a Can. 2H from a HJ60 into a 1985 FJ60.

1)HJ60s are 24v swap harness and every single switch, motor, and relay or source 12v alt, starter edic and all relays from S. America or OZ

2) motor mounts not same will have to be moved

3) lots and lots of differences....lots and lots of work.

What I meant is that if the actual rubber motor mounts are the same as the petrol 2F, not the location???

I am almost that far....they look to be the same FJ/HJ
