Hello guys , good to be here again I figure to post a new thread here for my 1984 Toyota extra Cab 4WD , I think this is the right place for Diesel Conversion, I always want to convert my truck to om606.962 but just didn’t have a courage to do so , so I ended up doing the om617 instead much simple . but I think it’s now or never after countless time of research and info thanks to this thread I learn a lot here . After gathering all the parts that I need from a donor car 87 om603 has a mechanical IP Is going to be swap to 98 om606 which has electronic injection pump So the plan is using Toyota drivetrain r150 transmission and I’m going to make my own adapter 5/8 thickness aluminum plate . This is where I’m at this point..

I made a dummy adapter for the flywheel to mount on the crankshaft I will take it to the machine shop and have them copy and made it easier for them depends how much they charge , or I will make it myself I just need to order a lathe machine from Harbor freight .

The 606 is in it fit but i have no room for my radiator , so since my truck is not ride for comfort and this is not your ordinary conversion . I am willing to sacrifice my firewall rather than cut my radiator support to make room for the radiator, but this way i will use the factory fan and I order a 3way radiator from Eastwood Garrage,

Did install my transmission and see where it sets also redo my crossmember raise the transmission as you can see almost flat belly that way better than before . I deleted the ac but not a big deal to me I still have air al least lol! I will still keep it the same height of the truck I have enough room for the oil pan from hitting the dif . The bump stop will hit before my oil pan sorry don’t have picture but will posted later .

I raise the transmission about 5inches and I wasn't joking about sacrificing the firewall jut for the sake of the motor to fit in the bay I have plenty of room to work around the engine can be pull out without removing the transmission , it mskes my job a lot easier to install the motor just line em up slide it back to mate the transmission. I deleted the ac , heater , just air the oil pan is clear from the dif . I thought it would be cool to use the donor Benz console looks pretty fit nicely tho. The shifter hole is lined up perfectly.

I drop in the motor mated to r150 today and check the clearance , everything looks exactly what I hope for considering its on stock height no lift but enough clearance between oil pan and the diff about 3and 1/2 inch to the diff and 2 and 1/2 inch to the bumpstop . Picture kind of blurry the stock manifold is got to go , I still need to install my manifold header problem is I still waiting forever but hopefully will be here next week from Germany but other than that factory fan and the aluminum radiator fits without issue.

The clutch is mounted in and hopefully tomorrow I should be able to mount the transmission and do the exhaust I will be doing straight 3 inch pipe . The f/r driveshaft is already cut and weld balance .. the rest of the little staff that need to finish up after that .

I work my rear all day yesterday to mount the transmission and after all set butt in up everything , the last thing i have to install is the clutch sleeve and that moment I realize I screwed up big time . All this time I have all the parts ready and confident that i have the right parts , never cross my mind to check if it is correct parts , fast forward when the clutch sleeve installed I was like why is it the clutch fork to much play . So back when I order my 5vz flywheel the person give me the wrong flywheel it was a 3vz flywheel and thats the reason why the 5vz cluch disk didn’t fit in so I thought its the wrong clutch. but when i use the 3vz clutch disk it fit , anyway i heard people says you can use 3vz clutch to 5vz flywheel, so I did and that was a mistake, so I order a 5vz flywheel yesterday and sure enough my 5vz clutch disk line ip perfectly . i work late last night milling the 8holes to mach the 606 crankshaft holes . You can tell the difference between two flywheel the 5vz is much thicker and the clutch disk holes is different diameter compared to 3vz . But al least the motor was able start on the ground before I drop in , I took a short clip of video but I don’t know hou to upload here .

Okay here I go again .Round two this time got it in the right position the clutch fork right where supposedly, luckily I have so much room behind the firewall and loosen the nut /bolt wasn’t the issue i was able to do it in less than a day .

I have to modify by shorten the shifter and straighten the transfer case shifter angle towards the center thanks to the LCengineering short throw shifter kit , and trimming the Benz console to fit in the toyota air control switch and the shifter cover boot .

Finally the truck is done and I been breaking in the truck for the last two days and so far no issue whatsoever it runs so smooth . The power is so unbelievable its just takes off and spew a thick black smoke a soon as I punch the throttle a day and night compared to my old om617 . The 8.5mm elements kicks butt I’m not sure how much power this thing but I have to adjust the Alda to reduce the black smoke which is Luke at Dieselpimpuk advice . although I have video and want to get a video how’s it drives but this computer thing I don’t know how to upload in here this is not my thing I’m old school guy so sorry guys can only post simple thing like pictures .
