I came across an 84 lynx diesel 5spd I want to buy. Has 46k miles, and looks as though it has been parked under a tree for 25 years. Moss coverd, and moldy inside. I'll just gut the interior and radicate the mold, tint the windows. Should make a good commuter. I can't seem to find much info about this car; ie where is the engine sourced, production numbers etc. If anyone has info please share, thank you.

From a quick search of the interwebs...I found that it should be a Mazda diesel motor. They also put them in the B2200 pickups. Mileage should be around 35 city and 47-50 hwy. Pretty darn good.

Found in Wikipedia (for what it is worth)

RF

Naturally aspirated SOHC, 2 valves-per-cylinder, displacing 1,998 cc with square internal dimensions of 86 mm (3.4 in) bore and 86 mm (3.4 in) stroke diesel RF engine was one of Mazda's more popular diesel engines. The R engine has virtually the same block as the Mazda petrol FE engine with identical bell housing pattern and block dimensions.
