Wow you started this thread a year ago and thats all you have done?? :flipoff2: Looks amazing I would have gotten sick of it and given up a few dozen times in that amount of time. So...whats the next step?

If I had some help it wouldn't take so long! :flipoff2:

I am going to start on the body so I can join the frame to the body. I don't have room to build the frame w/ axles and then work on the body, so I will be doing things out of sequence from tradition.

Frame looks great! I wish mine was in paint but i have to wait, so i am doing my spring over now and may add sliders to it as well.

Garage Re-arrangement and Cleanup

Got 5.5 hours between Sunday and last light on the 60. I spent all the time cleaning up the garage.... lots of dust from the sandblasting. I drug the neighbor over and he helped me move the frame the opposite side of the wall and strap it to the wall so it was out of the way. I need to get some more blankets to cover it up still.

Next big step is tear down of the body and interior.

Body Disassembly

Got 2.5 hours on the 60 last night. I am going to start tear down on the body to do bodywork. I got both doors removed. Takes a long time when your intent is to remove EVERY part.

Sorry for all the pictures, but I am trying to document this well so I remember how it goes together. I can already tell you I am going to forget and have to ask something .

Driver Side door had damage at some time. There was an insurance record included... You can see they didn't fix the hidden damage:

Project
Great job man! Will be following closely in case I get this anal about my 60 one day!
Thanks for the inspiration

Zero Rust Quantity

The frame looks great. One quick question, how much ZeroRust did you use painting the frame?

I used the entire gallon on the frame. I would say 2-3 coats sprayed on the outside was maybe 2 quarts. I used the other 2 quarts to "pour" on the inside of the frame.

Body Disassembly

Got 3 hours and 10 minutes between last night and this afternoon.

I finished pulling off the plastic clips from the driver side doors. Then I moved on and finished up the passenger side doors as well (they obviously went faster ).

I also started to pull stuff off the firewall. I only got to the throttle cable bracket and the heater hoses (including rear hoses).

These are plastic Tee's used to hold the weather strippring around the doors:

Thats lame! Take those gloves off and get your hands dirty! :flipoff2: I might have a non broken door handle that you can have for the cost of shipping. Its from a rear drivers door so I dont know if its the same.

DA Sander

Used some 80 grit sandpaper on the door to see how well it would strip paint using my new Dual Action sander. Did ok, but I think I will stick with wire wheels or sandblasting for stripping as it will take forever using this method.

Thanks...

I only wear gloves to keep the camera clean for you bastards! :flipoff2:

Thanks for the offer, but the front and rear are different. I think the front has a threaded hole for adjustment and rears just have a "cam" to push on door handle. I would have to look, but it may even be door specific??

Body Disassembly

Got a whopping 15 minutes on the 60 last night. I hung the doors on the wall to get them up and out of the way.

I did go to FinishMaster here in town to discuss paint costs... As a result I started this thread:

I also asked a question about body work associated with de-chroming here:

Everyone always likes pics so fill up your thread with them. This is some great detail on stuff everyone takes for granted. Keep it up

Boots - You don't have to tell me twice about the pics, I love reading build up threads with lots of pictures - especially yours!

Body Disassembly

Got an hour on the 60 tonight. I finished pulling everything off the firewall. Once I got the wiper covers off, I was not that excited about the cowl area.... What a mess. You can see the leave backed up and cuased some rust... gotta rip that all off and sandblast it.
