81 mini tube project (1 Viewer)

Starting a new truck (for stepdad) the frame is totaly rusted at the rear springs. planing on cuting it off and tubing from the cab back, 3 link the rear axle, exo cage, and maybe propane.

Questions

1: what is the best way to atach the tube to the factory frame ? got pics ?

2: anyone know of a cheep place to get coilovers ?

I may have 2 used Sway a Way's for sale if Rascal does not jump on them first.

Box the frame and just weld the tube to the boxed part.

what size tube would you use for the new rear frame and exo cage 1.5 or 2, or a combo of both

1.75 and 1.5

Mostly .120 and .090

mine is a mix of 1-3/4 .120 DOM, 1-3/4 .095 DOM, and 1-1/2 .120 DOM

the A hoop, B hoop, and overhead outerbars are 1-3/4 x .120 (bent)

the rear stringers are 1-3/4 x .095 (not bent)

the overhead V, behind seat V, and seat mounts are 1-1/2 x .120 (bent and not bent)

IMO, .120 if you bend, .095 if not, and make sure the primary portions are .120 for impact resistance.
