So I took the rig for a ride today and after I got it started (that is really bugging me) I rode around and jumped on the highway. It was between 204 and 208 the entire ride and the tranny got up to 198. Just wondering what others temps were. These temps were on at 4:30 today.

Tony, yesterday at 3pm I peaked at 212 in traffic  after driving 70mph on the freeway followed by 30 minutes doing alot of stop and slo-go tradffic through lights.

Not a good day for temps, thats for sure....

I thought this was gonna be about 80 degree weather somewhere I'm not, and some choice bad words were brewing in my head.

Thought you were missing out? :hillbilly:

Same thing I was thinking. I checked the temperature in Happy Jack this afteroon. But it wasn't 80. It was 70 and raining. Made me think what am I doing here.

Do the 80 series have a over heating problem? I was winching vehicles on and off a car hauler this afternoon. Had the hood up (using the battery in the cruiser) and idling with the A/C on. Temperature on the gauge never came up to the half way mark. But this was in a 100 series. Never had a problem with thing heating up. Towing up a hill, idling in traffic with the A/C. This runs cool all the time

The warmest I saw today was setting in the Taco Bell drive thru - 195°.
My guess is the cool air from the snorkel adds to the coolness:D

Oh my gawd...

Drove down to Tucson Saturday afternoon with A/C on and running about 75mph and Ultragauge showed my temps anywhere from 192-198. Driving around Tucson in traffic temp never peaked over 198. Could have lowered it a few degress if I had a snorkel.

Saturday mid-afternoon (I assume it was 110-115 degrees outside) I registered 204 degrees on the UltraGage when running around suburbia. That is with the fan clutch mod and an auxiliary fan wired into the A/C pressure switch.

I was just looking to see if I had something to compare to... besides the snorkel fantasy posts....

What cst oil are you running in the clutch? 15,000? MIke

IIRC Kevin put in 10,000 oil in my black hub fan clutch last fall

I'm running 20k in a blue hub. Black hubs have more shearing surface so typically don't need to go that high.

I think my spare was my original Eaton that we reloaded with 17000. I usually git it wrong, so Tools can jump in and correct me::doh:
