Are you going to mod the axles for castor, scrub radius, Ackerman, etc and poss slight bend for camber? Custom radius arms to match the drop?
Very nice, 850 hp from 1FZ+turbo is not difficult
the 1FZ has great potential, I just built a 2005 1FZ-fe engine and swapped it in my 80 instead of
the old carburated one it has:
* 102.5 mm cp pistons.
* Crower cam (forgot the numbers)
* +1.5 mm Manly valves
* the head is 1mm milled and ported
* 90mm throttle
* Exedy clutch + Fidanza fly wheel
* Haltech.
it has about 280 rwhp and I it's my DD. I am waiting for your project results, so I can start mine![]()
Truck won't get a cage, but will get harness bars.
Well it is happening. The idea of building a muscle truck just won't stop. So I am doing it.
Goals for this project are <4500lbs, more than 850hp, retain all wheel drive, seat 4 in 4 buckets with harnesses. (these just coincidentally happen to be slightly better than the Hellcat numbers. lol) Can this be done? Who knows but I think so.
I am still looking for the right candidate for the body, but I have started buying parts. I know this flies absolutely in the face of all that is right in the Ih8mud world but just think of it as Supra's big brother.
You might want to read up on using racing harnesses without a roll cage. Could be a death trap in a rollover.
Ill be following this. I like the power and tranny mods. I'll be watching to see what performance upgrades cross over from the 340 series. I wonder if one of their valve bodies could be used with PWM rail
pressure control.
Not sure on the lowering a solid axle vehicle. I would guess the 100 series independent would be a better fit and handling. In never looked close to see if it's all Ina. Crossmember or what kind of steering box/rack utilized.
Some short throw 2.5 body shock should keep it stable and you can tune them as you go.
Thanks for sharing look forward to more
Thanks, and yes the ifs 100 series front end would probably be more ideal, but they don't have a 1FZ engine. Having already had a boosted 2UZ, I can't very well do that again. SO short of a 1FZ in a 100 series or swapping a 100 series IFS onto an 80, it will just be a solid axle with slight camber and hopefully corrected arm geometry.
Funny I used the LS swaps and Diesel swaps as a way to sell ATF Speed on working on the A343F. At first they didn't really want to have much to do with it. I told them that there are quite a few people who love Land Cruisers and are doing re-powers and could definitely benefit from having a proven stock auto transmission. If this turns out great I could see it being a benefit to people doing swaps as you would only need the engine and adapter.
I think I mentioned earlier I was looking at doing 2.5" air shocks with reservoirs but their capacity is just not there yet. But yes at sometime in the future. Cutting off the spring and shock mounts and doing a 2.5' short body coilover could be just the ticket. But initially it will be cut coils.... :-(
Whoa! Sounds awesome! Are you building this locally?
I'm only curious about the cost.![]()
Their fully rebuilt/built A340/341 transmission is $2700.
