@hotwheels2017 good write up. Do you have the partnumber for the tabs on the glovebox that you fought with?

Mine didn't come with any of those and I ended up using a dog collar to limit the distance it opens.

check here and post the part number back.

Potentially Toyota (55517-AC010)

Because i have found nothing that is concrete on it. I've been looking longer than you for the part. It is also listed as discontinued. The name of the part is the only thing that makes me think it is correct.

post a picture of the fiche with the TEXT listing with the ACTUAL PART NUMBER for the picture in the fiche diagram and we can help you sort it. this way it becomes a resource so i and others can also order the part or put it on a list of parts we need.

That unused grommet is for the hole in the firewall through which the factory ran the original antenna wire. If you clip the old antenna wire and leave it going through the firewall then it might still be relatively sealed, but if you remove the cable (and likely the grommet) then you create a hole. It's fairly high up, so not the end of the world, but wanted to share this.
There is a dedicated hole in the firewall for the antenna. It's just up high and a pita to get to.

Please stop. You are not in any position to be chastising others about their abilities to find part numbers.

The correct part number for the glove box limiter is 55517-60020. This is quite readily available from any OEM parts source.
that was my point. but it is still not clear to me if he knows how to use the fiche. so if he doesn’t i or someone else can help him so he knows.

Where is the best place to source this manual antenna? I see it on ebay from United Arab Emirates but Ive never ordered from the middle east. I like to stay on this side of the hemisphere. I try to find it on Parts Giant or Toyota Parts Deal and the search always comes back as "no results were found". By the way....good work OP!

If you feel like rolling the dice you can also order that antenna from Cruiserparts.com and their located here in the states. But be warned, it's been reported that more then one Mud member has had problems getting what they paid for from them.

Thanks for the heads up!

This thread is amazing. Just replaced my broken power antenna with this manual.

Note to anyone doing this - there is a purpose built hole inside the fender near the top that drops just above the glovebox. No need to fish the wire through that little grommet here. That's also why the antenna comes with the rubber seal on it - to fit in that hole above the glovebox.

thanks for this. i was re-reading after your post and saw that grommet mentioned.
would you mind posting a pic of the location for it? i'll admit to kind of wishing i'd found it myself!

It’s at the top of this picture. It was really hard to relocate once I pulled the old antenna wire - it’s above the “bubble” sheet metal section.
