Just in from Colombia. The accident happened at the TATT Competition last week (Trofeo Americano de Todo-Terreno). Apparently the guy survived the accident and is still at the hospital.

To see the photo sequence of the accident, click on the link below, go to page 12, click on the first photo of a 40 on the left (_D0B0197) then click on "Siguiente" and so on... or just play the slideshow.

    ...hope he gets well soon.

    Tepui,

It's not a very smart way to do things. That strap on the top rigs is just an accident waiting to happen. Besides, it cheating. Vehicles should be able to drive trhough. That's the challenge. I hope the guy gets well soon.

    Regards

    Alvaro

what was the point of the strap on the top rig??? i see nothing but trouble there. Maybe the 80 pulled the 40 backward to the start of the pit to try it again....and when the 40 driver thought the strap had been unhooked he took off again.

Alvaro, I couldnt agree more, pulling the 80 in that position was a huge mistake to begin with... I watched it a few times to try and understand what they were doing (or trying to do) but I still don't get it.

I even went back a few pics and see that the 40 backed up through the mud pit, then got 2 straps hooked (front and back) and then pulled the 80. No idea why.

I hope the dude is relatively okay.

Looks like they were trying to pull the 40 backward, then pull it forward with a front strap, but forgot to unhook the rear strap before the 40 moved forward (maybe that's what the dude was going to do--he was headed that way). Looks like a tricky, risky operation, with poor communication.

    That's how people get hurt.
