I'll be looking for an FJ40 latter in the summer and I'll have about $7k to spend. Should this get me a reasonable low rust, good body, good running FJ?? I'll be looking for a 75 or newer. Any help or info would be great. Thanks! -Wes

When in Athens . . .

Check with Georgia Cruisers or Upstate Cruisers on the club side of Mud. For us in Upstate Cruisers, someone's always trying to sell something or may know where some "barn cruisers" are located.

Good Luck!

X2. Those good deals are out there and if you get lucky and stumble accross one like that don't think twice and jumping on it. If you don't chances are when you go back it will be gone. There are those out there that need some TLC and a little work. They make good rigs as well but take a little sweat and time to make it your own. Never sell that idea short, save a cruiser. Your idea of what 7K will get you might not be what you'll find :D

And you made the deal of a life time, I read your thread when you picked it up. That was awesome. :D

Yeah, I don't mind doing a little work. Thats the fun part! I just don't want a rusted out piece! Thanks for the info!

i got a rusted out piece for 800! it runs really well though.. my bet is you can find something definately worth it

I got mine for $1500 from a farmer outside of Dawsonville. They are out there. Check around....they are coming out of the woodwork around Atlanta. I saw one last weekend for sale. '72 for $3000.

I found a bone stock '74 off I-20 east of Atlanta and paid $6000 5 years ago.

I paid a little much, but the truck had little rust and ran good enough to get me around until I started really working on it.

...they may be out there... but at that rate you'll be looking for a wheel chair first.

That deal of Calico's was like hitting the Lotto.

Good for you brother.

Good luck, find some nearby mud residents to check it out if you're remote. ...post up some pix

I got this for 3.7K in WY, but I was extremely lucky. Mostly surface rust. Rear tub frame member is rusted through. Engine ran great but needed some cleanup with the desmog that was previously done and a carb rebuild. These pictures are "Then" pictures.

The acquisition cost is only the beginning. I remember Poser stating that the cost to buy is about the cheapest thing with 40s (of course he put it more eloquently). I bought mine for $4k last June, 11 months later I have put at lesat that amount in it. I have also been able to acquire some parts for free (tires) or cheaply, but the little stuff adds up. Plus, I still have more to go...
