Greetings from Japan!

I own a 2015 30th Anniversary GRJ79 series dual cab that is pretty much stock right now. I use it as a daily driver, take it camping often, and plan on doing some occasional off-roading here in Okinawa (options are limited). It currently look like it is owned by someone's great grandfather and I am planning on putting either a 3" or 4" Dobinson's lift on it. I haven't decided whether I want to run 33" or 35" tires. Please give me your opinions and post some pics or your rides to help me decide!

Here is what it looks like now...

Cheers!
Patrick

Since this is a dream truck for 99% of the 70 Series enthusiast in North America, feel free to continue to post photos. 😊

My 2007 (which I washed only 5 days ago when I bought it) is on 315/75R16 tyres with 10 inch wide rims.

I do not know how much lift it has but the distance between the center of the hub and the underside of the front guard is approximately 590mm

I believe my vehicle would drive better on narrower tyres and softer springs.... but it wouldn't look as cool. Ha!

What's your hub to guard distance?

P.S. I have a 105 on 285/75R16s and it drives really well. I personally think that's a good tyre size for a combination of looks and road manners, especially with an 8 or 9 inch wide rim (IMO 285s look a bit lost on a 10 inch rim). I may put the 105 wheel/tyre combo onto the 79 next month and transfer the 315/75s onto the 105 as the 105 doesn't get used as much now that I have the 79, but the 105 seems to have a slightly smaller centre bore than the 79 so the 105 wheels will need the entre bore honing out to fit the 79.

UncleJakeNZ my hub to front guard distance is 530mm. I am guessing that you either have a saggy 3" lift or a 2" lift.

Best,
Patrick

Hey - Terrain Tamer would be my choice with parabolic rears. But shipping right now from Oz is insane. I’d recommend checking with Navic4x4 or NeoSteel.
