G'day Rosco,
could you help me out with a problem if at all poss, I am working shift in ******** oil patch and have some problems with the brakes sticking on on 79 series pick up, 2006, has any thing been documented because I know you boys run a lot of them in the mines in Aussie..

Usually if its one or two wheels its the caliper pistons are stuck.
Its not a regular problem that I am aware but it does happen.
Are they being driven rough and hitting the brakes hard all the time?

I got this as a PM but couldnt return it as his computer is not set to receive PMs
Maybe someone knows what the problem is.

The master is probably screwed, had that happen to an old cruiser of mine. Everything looked great and new but the brakes would stay on just slightly - so I replaced the master and all was good.

too vague...
any work done lately on the brake system?
what has he been using the truck for?

Louis: did you adjust the actuator rod on the old master? it has to be adjusted properly or the brake system will not fully release the fluid...

They would probably use them for supplying tube and parts to drilling rigs.
Probably driven hard.
It can really only be the m/c or the calipers

or a kink in the line, pressure will go out but not enough pressure to return through the kink...
possibility

79 Brakes

Hi there guys , thanks for the help. I am back in NZ from Kazakhstan now.
No work has been done to the brake system recently , I pulled the MS off and everything was good as gold . I put a gauge in line to front caliper line and the pressure was returning to the res'. Now we ran the ute locally and after a while the brakes were dragging on front and rear ( very warm to touch) , the vacume pipe was pulled from the booster and he was able to drive away . any ideas???:hhmm: if it was linkage wouln't the pressure have built up on the gauge as the pressure would not return to the res' through the MS ?

Regards..Jon

Has anyone played with the booster push rod?

on the money

Rossco, :wrench:adjusted rod from booster to master cylinder and up to now all is fine , but there are a few things unexplained , will keep you all posted, thanks for the help every one, networking is a wonerful thing

Regards from a cold -18 Kazakhstan
