1. is there a wire that goes direct from a small terminal on the starter to the ignition coil?

2. what are these connections: 1 is a socket type.

In your first pic
# 1 is an unused connector for the air conditioner.
#2 is the male connector for the missing fusible link.
#3 is the other connector for the missing fusible link.

I can build you a complete new fusible link with the battery connector if you need it.

The last pic of the female bullet with the BY wire is for the noise filter capacitor for the igniter. It is not needed unless you run an AM radio and hear a whine in the speakers.
ToyotaMatt of VintageTeqParts.com has OEM noise filter capacitors.

I have a ‘79 as well and your reply and website helped me to learn that my link was totally bypassed. Thanks for setting me up with the fix!
