Finally reassembling my doors and was wondering...did the FJ40 have a plastic barrier between the door and door panel...like the FJ60 does? I guess it would act as a water/dust shield of sort.

Thanks to the all-knowing ones!

I'm pretty sure it did. I plan to put one on mine just to reduce drafts...

HTH!

From the factory they did come with a plastic liner.

Yep, held on with the most god awful black tar like compound I have ever dealt with. You can reproduce the factory liner with a opaque film. Don't know where you can get the tar compound though.

Howdy! The black tar stuff can be closely replicated by mixing unequal parts of PlayDough and Gorilla Glue. John

How would you ever come up with that???

Butyl (sp) from 3M at most auto part stores.

Thanks for the info all...

When I did my FJ60 I used 3M strip caulk to hold the plastic film on...worked great, hopefully lasts long time. I'll probablygo the same route with the FJ40 and maybe some left over Tyvek. Time to go work some door / windshield frame "alignment issues."

It comes off with acetone. It sucks donkey balls for sure.

I'd use standard visqueen held on with clear silicone. For my half-doors I skipped this step since there's no window.
