Thank you all for the info posted here- I’ve been lurking and learning for a while but have run into a bit of a wall.

I finally bought a rig of my very own up here in Alaska (78 frame with a 76 2F engine) and I’ve been trying to figure out the previous owner’s work. Long story short, erroneous fuel level indications (aftermarket gauges) required an Autometer sending unit for proper resistance. The included autometer instructions (attached) are light on the details, and say connecting the hot to the sending unit from the gauge is sufficient all the wiring required. The replacement CCOT tank I’m swapping in indicates there should be a hot and a ground to the frame from the mounting flange (also included).

Previous own only ran a hot, no ground. Can anyone help shed some light on this subject before this amateur has to learn from his mistake?

Thank you all for helping to keep me out the ER.
