Part number needed for the fuel pump insulator/spacer to install a '77 fuel pump onto an '86 2F block. I've read where the smaller insulator of the 79 thru 84 was needed.

Here are the OEM Insulator part numbers I could find:
#90923-06009 (old number was 90923-06001 for a 7/79-9/83 2F)
&
#90923-06010 (old number was 90923-06008 for a 1/84-8/87 2F)

It 'appears' they are the same thickness, the only difference is that 90923-06010 had both gaskets fused to the insulator/spacer from the factory, see below.

Is there another insulator/spacer part number that I need to order? I've looked all over and can not find any other spacers than the two I've listed above for a 2F engine.

I thought we were discussing this in this thread.

I thought 2 lines no spacer, 3 lines spacer needed.
I thought the same thing on the spacers, new and old, new ones have the gaskets on them- 1 piece, versus old style - 3 piece.

It was discussed, but if you see Jim's remarks, he mentions about the a fore mentioned spacers as having a different thickness. I just received both insulators/spacers recently to compare the thickness. Seems that they will be the same thickness once both gaskets are added to the #90923-09001/09009 insulator. :meh:

After just having this '86 2F built, I sure don't want to destroy anything on the bottom end due to ignorance. I just want confirmation on the correct part number to use.

not sure the 77 pump will need spacers on the 85 block .the 85 pump was the same pump they used on the pickups and 4 runners and if you dont use the spacer the arm will bend .i bought a fj40 pump and laid it on the bench next to an old 4 runner pump and they were they same except the lenght of the arm .if you put the 77 pump on the 85 with the spacer and it doesnt work check the arm lenghts or do it before install

my post is correct for the original stock factory pump and my not be for any aftermarket stuff

Shelf - Thanks for the info. There is no aftermarket stuff going on my new 2F. The fuel pump is an OEM '77 Kyosan from Beno.

So no spacer is needed to mount a '77 OEM Toyota fuel pump on an '86 2F block?

This should be correct. I'm running a similar setup, '85 block instead of '86 and with '77 fuel pump, lines, carb.

I wonder if there is a difference between the '85 and '86 2F blocks?

Godwin - if you could post the casting/part number for your '85 block, I could check it against my '86. How long have you been running this setup?

Thanks

I've been running this at least 10 years. I'm away from the 40 until this weekend but will be glad to post the block number and shoot some photos of the pump. I'm using an OEM pump, not aftermarket.

Sweet! Thanks for the help.

10 years and no issues on your setup, nice!

As I recall I initially had this pump on the '77 block and transferred it over once the '85 block was rebuilt.
Thanks for the update. If my block's parts number matches yours, it will be peace of mind knowing the setup without the spacer works.

Being I have both the '77 and '86 fuel pumps, I'll be sure to measure and compare the arms as well.

Here are the numbers on my '86 2F:

Serial Number: 2F 884317
Date: 60801
Part Number: 11411-61014

FWIW - Here is some info on the two different fuel pumps:

Kyosan 23100-61011 (7/76 - 9/77) vs Kyosan 23100-61070 (8/80 - 8/87)

1. Measurement perpendicular from mounting face to tip: 61011 = 35.00mm (+/-) & 61070 = 37.25mm (+/-)
2. Pressure to compress arms: 61011 = 5 lbs or less & 61070 = 20 lbs or more
3. Spacer 90923-06010 or 90923-06009 with gaskets each side = 6.00mm

Thus, 61070 + spacer/gaskets = depth of 31.25mm (+/-) vs 61011 + gasket depth of 35.50mm (+/-) for a difference of 3.25mm (+/-) of depth inside the block.

Photos of the '85 block and fuel pump. Part number of the block is the same as yours and I have a Kyosan fuel pump mounted and looks identical to the 23100-61011 (7/76 - 9/77). I could not get a clear angle to photograph the pump mount against the block but I could not see or feel a spacer.

Thanks for the help & photos! I'll install the new 23100-61011 fuel pump on my rebuilt '86 2F without the spacer next week, unless advised differently.

I'm not trying to beat a dead opossum here, but I just got an email regarding this thread's question....I have been advised differently.

Per a reputable and reliable source; "use the 79-84-ish spacer on an 86-87 block. It has a different PN than the 85-92 3F spacer." Thus, I'll be installing the #90923-06001 (replaced by #90923-06009) spacer for a 79-84 2F, when I install my new Kyosan 23100-61011 (7/76 - 9/77) fuel pump on the rebuilt '86 block.

I'll report back to follow-up on this thread.

My report back on this thread.....ACC did not install a spacer on my '86 2F to receive the Kyosan 23100-61011 (7/76 - 9/77) fuel pump. Seems to be fine without the spacer, similar to Godwin above.

GA,

About to install the 61011 fuel pump into the same block part number you have. So just double checking.

Thanks
Ernie

Run it! Twenty months with the 61011 in the '86 block with no issues....since May of 2015, I haven't given this a second thought.
