Need help on tightening up my rear view mirror. I don't see any screws holding it on the structure above the window. How is it removed? Are there screws to tighten somewhere?

Thanks!

it is a break-away design dictated by the safety standards at the time. Give it a yank and it will pop right off. Tighten the screws that hold the bracket to the windshield frame and anything else that's loose. Push it back on. Really pretty simple.

It is removed by just pulling it up and off. My mirror is tightened up by using a penny wedged in to hold it steady. Previous owner did this fix for me and I've just left it alone.

Hahaha, a penny! Awesome!

dgangle, is the same true for the fj62?? I have a loose mirror there, and could not see how to tighten it up either.

Thanks,

Richard

no idea. post a pic or 2 and i'll give it a stab

Seems like the 60/62 mirror pops off too. I think the little plastic cover on the base slides off, then you can see inside.

I just tightened mine by sticking a narrow screwdriver between the mounting resistance type springlike on the backside of the arm. It took a few adjustments before it mounted snugly and didn't shake. Good luck

My 62 mirror was loose. I just bought a new one and I am good to go.
