per photo, the hole for the antennae is 1)round and 2)oversized for an oem antenna. ideas?

looks like the hole is not perfectly round, someone modified it at some point??
 
I’ll bet it was originally drilled for one of the typical dealer installed antennas of the era. Here’s a pic of mine on the passenger side apron. I’m still running it.

I would make/buy/fit a rubber or plastic plug into that oblong hole that mates up to the antenna and hides the oversize hole in the background. You might be able to use a grommet, although the UV would be hard on rubber like that. Troll the grommet/plug area at Ace Hardware and maybe something will jump out at you that could be made to work.
