I have an aftermarket stick shift in my 4 speed and cannot figure out how to remove it. The clutch has gone up and this is the only thing holding me up. Any help please.

If you have to, remove the whole top cover. Otherwise there is a spring loaded locking ring that you have to push down on and turn CCW. Some have used 2 slot screwdrivers to push and turn.

I've had pretty good luck using a pair of big channelocks or a pipe wrench - it's a PITA but shouldn't bee too tough

ive always had trouble with mine so i cut some of the spring thats holds the pressure.works nice now.

Thanks people

I will try tonight to remove the thorn in my project.

Clockwise on mine and no problem, thanks

Shifter "Cup"

I have a stock 3 speed from 73 and am looking for the name of that “cup” piece that holds the shifter in place. Does any one know what it is called?
Thanks
