On my 76 fj 40, want to remove the rear drums, to get at the c-clips

There is a large 1/2"-3/4" hole, that's not very deep, metal behind, it, and a tiny hole that's full of mud...

but no screw,

I'm guessing the small hole is where the retaining screw goes and it's missing?

Thanks,

Cal-

A lot of them were left out, not really needed. They interfere with some aftermarket wheels, so some are removed for this reason.

X2....unless stock drum or disc rims they usually interfere with the rim surface. the other rims don't have a detent area for the screw head to go into.

Ok, so from this point on its just hammer, and heat around where the drum seats at the center to get it apart?

Trying to get to the c-clips as the next step in along process, to get a the pinion bearing.

I'm a 1 banana mechanic, any tricks i should know about? other than sili-kroil and pb blaster for getting the hubs off?

thanks,

Eric-

a few smacks with a sledge hammer do wonders. you just need good aim. hit on the end of the axle shaft. missing all your studs.

Thanks!
