@c2dfj45 I agree with one of your other comments... I just like radio's with volume knobs. I just installed the Sony xavax 1000 in my cummins truck (I don't call it a Dodge because the only parts that need replaced have a dodge emblem on them) and really love the appleplay and other touchscreen features.... seems like someone should make one with a ribbon cable between the face and the box.

I miss having a volume knob in my 79 series when I upgraded to the AX5000 Sony. But shockingly, I've adapted to life without it. Sony makes some really nice stuff.....simple and very intuitive.

Just saved this to my Amazon wish list. How did it mount without the normal cage that radios screw into?

The AXs are mechless....so they have a nice cutout in the rear. Looks like the 1000 only does Apple CarPlay.

The biggest issue I had with the 1000 which I swapped for the 5000 was that the screen clarity sucked. The 5000 has a phenomenal screen. Well worth the extra $

I wonder if the screens changed, as my screen looks great. I don't play video on it, so maybe my needs are very low.

I had to go back and look.....I had an AX200...it was not so good compared to the 5000. The screens were way different with resolution and glare. I bet that 1000 has the same screen as the 5000. Seems like an updated model.

Got this today.

Stainless nuts in the tank, shake them around, dump them, wash out, dry all the remaining water with acetone. Acetone absorbs all the water that is left.

Actually got the tank fully dipped and lined at the local radiator shop, so it was perfect until I sliced into it for the Fuel pump. I just hate hearing those in line pumps, in tank are nice and quiet. Yes, more work for me, but I want to do it right.

Today was productive. Got the clutch pilot bearing installed. I put it in the freezer for a few days so it went in pretty smoothly.

The self tapping screw method is what Cummins puts in the directions for replacing rear main seal. It does work great.

Got the fuel tank sealed up.

Then took 80 series fuel lines and bent to fit although the pressurize line was too long so re-flared it

Got a little more done... Little worried about the height of the intake Plenum.. May have to put a body lift on this

I think it "should" be fine without the body lift. That fuel injection configuration (same as 1FZ from an 80-series) came on some narrow nose 70-series (between 2000 and 2001 I think), though it was prior to the switch to the front coil suspension and distributor-less ignition. Not sure if Toyota modified the location of the engines with these two changes.

Hope you don't have to add any more parts to the build.

Keep up the great work!

-Alberto

I have so many pics of stuff like this from my first build..

1FZs in 70 series narrow nose......these plenums look pretty high to me.

Great photos, Chris!

Those seem to be the later 1FZ, with coilpacks (non-distributor type), which have an updated intake manifold, head, and injection systems. When those came out Toyota also switched the axles to 5-lug (versus the conventional 6-lug style on previous Land Cruiser models).

The one on the link below (which I am sure the link will die sometime soon), is the transition between the previous carburated version, and the later type shown on your photos.

Toyota Macho Lx

I made some screenshots of some of the photos there, for posterity, but the photos or the truck are not mine :poof:

I forgot to mention that if you ever get your fuel injectors tested and cleaned, I really enjoy working with Chuck. I sent him two used Sets and got back seven the passed his quality standards.
