75 series - 80 series diff conversion (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys, I’m new to this didn’t even know these forums still existed.
I’m looking for information on 80 series diff conversions. I’m planning on doing it on my 75 series. I noticed a guy called VKYOOT on this forum did it if he’s still around to help out.

you know they are significantly wider than stock so you will need appropriately sized fender flares, of course you will need to modify either the 80 axles or modify the 75 suspension.

Pretty easy, cut coil stuff off, weld on leaf perches. handbrake cable might be a fiddle, but probably not to hard to figure out. If you use a discs rear end, will need to swap to a disc disc master cylinder.

Might be easier if you can find the front axle etc. From a HZJ or HDJ79 - from a width perspective

Heres my HJ75 ive had it on a couple other websites for about 12 months thought id chuck it up here Stats 1985 HJ 75 landcruiser ute Mods HZJ79 coils mounts front end - 80 series front diff, radius arm mounts moved in 80 series rear coil setup custom modified to fit Custom gearbox X-member...

Yeh complete diff assembly

Do you reckon it’s better to go 79 axles over 80 for width. Reason I thought about 80 series axles is because everyone I’ve seen do it has used the 80 axle. Cheers for the response

Full build pics in the thread “PZJ70 refresh rebuild”, I did the conversion a few years ago. @Loober has also done it and documented his work in his thread.
