I recently found a junker 74ish Chevy 3/4 ton with a 4-speed manual transmission and a 14-bolt rear end. What transmission could this be, SM465? What would this truck have for a front axle (the rear end is a 14-bolt, one of the ones with the bigger ring gear). Any help is appreciated.

definitely sm465, and if it's got the NP203 chain drive transfer case (fulltime 4wd) then it's a relatively rare rig.

NP 205 gear t-case is parttime only (2wd avail)

Thanks very much Woody, unfortunatley the truck was in REALLY bad condition, water in all the drivetrain, more rust than I've seen in a long time, so I passed on it.
