Taking apart a 1974 seat frame for painting/restoration.

Is there a trick to separating the upper and lower slider halves underneath the seats?

Looks like there is a "stop" screw on the front and back of each slider rail to keep the seat from going too far in either direction. However, it still doesn't want to slide out once those are removed so I was wondering if there was a trick to it.

Also is there a trick, other than brute force, to remove the plastic adjustment lever handle under the driver's seat?

Looks like it may just slide off but it's on REALLY good and I certainly don't want to damage it.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it looked like there are thick rivets preventing this that would have to be cut off.

They really weren't designed to be disassembled for some strange reason.

I had ACC here in Atlanta do the powder coating and it still turned out pretty nice.

They're a sponsor here I believe and do a lot of cruiser work and had dealt with this before.

Simply a necessary evil (without serious reworking of the pieces I'd imagine) to have to slide both directions during the paint process to get all the exposed areas covered.
