I am almost done putting the new pre 84 350 in. I have been considering doing power steering next. What do i need and how hard is it? Please help. Rob

ps: I have lots of parts for sale (nice hard top, seats (need redone), complete inline 6 cyl orig. Motor, etc, contact for deals)

that is a very general question.

There is a lot of information regarding this. Your main options are the Saginaw that sits in front of the crossmember, FJ60 or Scout style that sits outside the frame rail in front of the drivers side shock tower, and the mini-truck style. Each has advantages and disadvantages, just depends on what you want. If you read up and have more specific questions ask away.

I har a lot about the "mini" usage. I am looking for easy to install. It is not for a crawler or anything, light off road and general use. Whats your opinion

I'm doing a sag pump and Fj60. box on Mama's 40 ... I may even do the 60 axles

I tried a Mini truck gear with my 350 and didn't have any clearance for exhaust manifolds. I found someone who wanted to trade me their fj60 gear so that's the route I took.

They're all similar in level of effort and engineering (e.g. Scout, Astro, FJ60 or Saginaw). My second choice was an Astro conversion only because I wasn't too keen on running linkage through the front crossmember. But there are trade-offs. I had to move my radiator to the right a bit to allow for gear fitment and trim the shock tower.

With the 350 the FJ60/Scout style will give you more leeway in engine placement. If you do the FJ60 and you are going to rebuild the box have it ported for hydro while you have it apart. Makes the upgrade very easy later if you decide you want more assist.

What exactly is SAGINAW is it the brand, style, or vehicle that it comes from?

Saginaw is the brand, you would be looking for a Saginaw II box specifically. This box is the standard box on most chevy cars and alot of Jeeps from 60's on.

I am just finishing up acquiring the parts for power steering for both of our 40's. I am putting the mini truck on my wife's 40. I have decided to put the 60 style on my truck because my truck will see more wheeling. I have heard good and bad about both. .2

The Scout box is also a Saginaw, just looks different, in case you run across one. Al

SORRY

I was recently advised by one of the other members that i can not post parts for sale without the prices. I am sorry for breaking the rules. As far as the prices, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay, and i'm not a mind reader. No offense to anyone. Rs
