Is this question that dumb that no one wants to answer it?
Not even six hours eh?
Perhaps some lucky folks have been out wheeling this weekend.
As was pointed out previously, these are not interchangeable, not only because of the different speedometer connections, (thread-on style previous to 09/72 and clip on style 09/72 and later, but the 71 cluster will have two separate electrical plugs/connections other than the ammeter, whereas the 09/72 and later cluster has the round integrated plug connection on the rear of the cluster for everything other than the ammeter.

...and most of the ohms scales between the senders and guages are different as well. Definitely not 'plug and play.'
But if you are enterprising...much more is possible than meets the eye.
