I made a set of wooden "saddle bags" that run parallel to the
inner rear fenders and provide support for the rubber bumpers
on the bottoms of the seat when they are down ( I put the
stock roll bar in my '68 ). I carry 6 cub scouts on those seats
all the time and a grownup or two every once in a while.

Hi All:

That is awesome! Those kids are getting a"real" ride to the campground; not some lame-o-minivan, but a Land Cruiser!

They will remeber that ride for the rest of their lives! ;)

I'd love to see the pics if you have any. Sounds cool.

Can someone who has a factory rollbar measure the distance from the floor to the top of the rollbar? I'm getting a new rollbar fabricated, but I need to know the max height the rollbar can be without hitting the roof (I'd measure myself, but my FJ top is dissassembled right now and there's no rollbar). Thanks to anyone who can help :)

@8 years old, on a cub scout campout, I climbed up in the back of a later 40. It quite literally changed my life. It's why I'm on this forum today. I still remember the bench seats and the "UFO" rear heater, It was olive. I can't remember a dang thing about the actual camp out.

FYI - I am putting in a roll bar into a 1969 FJ40 and foudn the wheel well support channel from Real Steel Cruiser Parts for 24.00 Each. Look to be predrilled for alignment but will know more once they arrived. I replaced the rear jumps with a Bestop rear seat to make it safer for the car seats to ride in.
Hopefully this post will help someone later when researching wheel well support channels.
