Progress was made on the top today!
Last month I had my drip rail blasted and epoxy primed. It came out pretty good, some bumps from rust pitting but no holes. I riveted the two pieces back using @zerotreedelta custom rivet tool, which worked great 👍🏻. I have some self leveling sealer coming soon and then paint.

SPRING UPDATE!
After riveting the top back together I used Eastwood 2k self leveling sealer in the gutter. I thought I would be ok with one tube but came up short. I wish I would have just got 2 to be safe but tried to save a buck and we know how that usually works out. Overall happy with the product. Uses a normal caulk gun, goes on smooth and takes paint well.

Re assembling the hard top was a huge PITA! No pics, just 2 days of wrestling with the top to get all the bolts and screws aligned.
Next was installing the windows. I bought gaskets from City racer only to find my top must be older vintage and needed the 2-piece rubber. I sourced them through a company called Restoration specialties. 30’ was plenty to do the 4 windows.

I know right? After living with the top off for the better part of a year, I’m glad to have it back on. No A/C, just 2 windows and kick vents!
Any updates on this beautiful truck?

Thanks for checking in! I’ve just been driving it around. Last month I made this mod for the season,

Then on 12/31 my house got flooded. Water was up to the locking hubs on the 40. My GTI had some water inside but hopefully that will get fixed. We had to tear out all of our flooring and 2 weeks later we are still cleaning up.
my plans for a suspension re do might have to wait for a while.

A little summer update.
No real work on the 40. Ive been working non stop on my house for the last 5 months and just now feel like i can relax a little.
Luckily the 40 is running good and isn’t being needy. We enjoyed a 4th of July cruise last week.

Just a little end of the year wrap up.
In September I was in Utah visiting family so naturally I had to visit the world famous Land Cruiser Museum, which was awesome!
And since I was in the neighborhood, I stopped by Cruiser Outfitters and picked up some new Aisin hubs.
The new hubs definitely gives the old 40 a pick me up.

Have you settled on a suspension yet? I haven't read through your whole thread, so not sure what you are starting with. On my FJ60 (wife drives a 40, hence I'm on this Forum as well) I started with an OME medium/heavy that only lasted about 6 years. Suffered with totally worn out springs for a few years and just put a Dobinson IMF on it. Not apples to apples 60 to 40, but so far I am extremely pleased with the Dobinson. Assuming reports are good on the 40 version it's definitely worth considering. Wife's 40 has OME, which I do have to admit isn't too bad, though I run pretty low pressure in her tires which always improves things.

I have not decided on a suspension setup. I was thinking of Redline cruisers 2.5” lift with Bilstien shocks. Dobinson have great reviews, but is pricey and barely 2”.

Agreed, Dobinson is definitely more expensive. Interesting they are only 2", I had definitely thought they were 2.5" when I put mine on. Sits so much higher than the thrashed OME that I never really questioned it.
