It was a weird auction but probably not an outright scam - what I suspect happened is the seller cancelled the auction right before it ended because they didn't like the price they looked to receive. Kind of violates the spirit of a 'no reserve' auction but not uncommon on eBay unfortunately. eBay should incorporate that into sellers' feedback - like AirBnB does - with an automated message like "seller cancelled this no-reserve auction 5 minutes before the sale was final." Seller would usually claim, of course, that "item was available for sale locally and auction may be ended at any time" - then re-list on eBay with a reserve price.

The pictures are still up if you view the original ended listing. They thought it would be a good idea to show the truck completely covered in salt. Cool photo I suppose but not the way I would market a black truck...
