I seen the bloke who builds these full door duel cab cruisers and turns 105 series into ute etc in a lunch bar the other day , but only got a quick chat in. He was saying that conversion with full rear doors and genuine doorloks etc from a masive company that builds truck loads for mini g companys and charges minning prices are around $24g , he build them for customers so each just get 100% and isn't rushed in and out , his are around $14500 ish obviously price varies to what you want and need , I've seem a troopy he duel cabbed , chopped the rear end off the body and put a tray on looked nice .
Ill pop in to see him after work one day and see if I can get some pics happening

Wayne, have photo's, just sorting them out as some are double ups. None on the chassis part as he had a computer crash during the build and lost a whole lot of photo's and other data.
Will get them to you closer to the weekend.

Gday mate I've got one of these trucks LJ78 1990 2.4 TD.That is anice one!!Do you want to build a model of this or do you want the real thing?

i have had a number of LJ78s over the last few years. nice trucks.
i have a LJ78 with the PZ swapped in and am considering doing a build similar to this one but in reality it would be cheaper, easier and make much more sense to just contact the owner and buy it.
cheers

mmmm

that brown one is gorgeous, just a pity about the colour, ive seen a few of them over here in NZ that are like that, like somone said i think they are SA convesrions that have been shipped over here. That white one looks a bit rough, the tray looks way to short and the rear wheel arches look unco, but i gues thats what you get when you dont extend the chassis....1HDT...mmmmm give me one of those for my hilux please!

Just popping in to rattle the cage again.

I'm really close to beginning my project. Gonna drop the 79 cab on an 80 chassis. Found a good donor FZJ80 but I need to flog the Cummins to make it happen. Hopefully it will work out. I'm not going to stretch the frame or the cab until I get all the bugs worked out as a single cab and then I'll stretch the frame to match the extended cab once I find a donor Prado.

Any thoughts about using a T100 steering column with the shifter to run an A442? It would be nice to keep the bench seat and have a clean transmission tunnel.

Beautiful.

Do you think it is just the body color around the glass that makes it look less like a Prado when compared to the one in the original post?

I'd sure love to see a side-on picture of this latest one.

If you need a good T100 for parts, my wrecked one is available from SGI salvage. PM for details or just search the sgi salvage page.
Good luck on the project.

I think it's that and the fact that there is no two tone paint scheme. Keep it white or beige and it should look more like a 79 and less like a Prado.
my 2cents;)

I'm with Deny on that one, the prado paint - well....not so good.

Deny got the front driveshaft thanks very much, will get me through the season, I sent the money last week and you should have it any day now.

I support your project 100% its gonna be awesome!!! get to it someone has to get a project done...I sure havent :)

seriously, a double 70 series double cab ute (my version has a short aluminum flatbed) on a 80 series frame will be the ultimate 70 series.

Im in, I'll take 2 please

Only info I have on this rig is that it was imported from OZ to South Africa. It's the D4D 4500 V8, sitting on 315 muds. I don't think it was resprasyed, think the guy bought it in that colour..
