7/69 Fuel Tank Resto Questions?

Has anyone found a source for a replacement for the felt strips that go under the fuel tank straps? I can reuse them, but while I have it apart, I thought that I would install new ones. I would like to find NOS, but they do not appear to be available. Also, I was thinking of powdercoating the tank. Is that something that should not be done for any reason? Thanks for any information. i used a truck strap

i am definately not a OEM nut. i have a very limited budget. so while driving the highways and biways, i found a truck strap and used that for both the under tank support/vibration dampners and between the tie down straps and the top of the tank. it worked real good for me. i replaced the straps with structural 120 guage materail since my straps were rusted badly. i really liked how they worked in the rear for my spare tank modification. i dont know about the tank coating.

Getting ready to tackle a tank re-do too. I was thinking of powder coating, or Line-X, like I plan for the rest of the interior of the tub. I am wondering if it will cause thickness problems or not (with the Line-X)?

I didn't consider Line-X, but that would be a durable solution. I would think that there is enough slack in the straps to allow for the thickness of the Line -X without causing an issue. I am sure there is someone here on Mud who has done it. Thanks for the suggestion. Brendon
