So I am currently doing a 6bt swap on my FJ60. I am wanting to do some clean on the motor to include the oil pan gasket so it would be nice to turn the motor over on a stand. I have a 1000lb stand from harbor freight. Do I dare mount this engine up on those Chinese welds. I was think I would support the front end with a floor jack for some extra precaution. I also want to bench start the motor. Do you think this is safe on the stand or would you go to the floor with it?

The HF stand itself is built fairly well, its the fact of supporting a heavy engine like that from one end using 4 bolts is super sketchy. I tried it with a 1HDFT, which is about 700lbs fully dressed, as I was letting off the hoist and transferring all the weight to the stand, it was flexing way too much. Ended up just building a floor stand for it. Unless you are just working on the block with nothing else on it, might be okay, otherwise I wouldn't risk it.

That's what I am gathering.....reading failure with hf stands.

You should post a pic of the one you have the 6bt on now Dan...

There are some pictures in the build thread.
