The plan is several strong backs and a LOT of clamps
 
Started patching the tailgate back together

Coming up with a battle plan…

Cleaned off the old hinges and the nonsense. Cut a vertical notch in the ribbing. Welding 1/4” thick material to 14G body was a bad plan from the Kaiser engineers

Cleaned the nasty mill scale of some 2.5”x 3/16” angle iron and added a load of clamps. Basically clamped it to within an inch of its life as I slowly tack welded down it

On to the upper portion. Pretty damn bent

I knew there was a reason I kept the old bedside sections after bobbing it. The radius is the same as is the metal which is 14G

Added the portion with the radius back in after clamping everything flat

Sorted out the console mounting and found a place to relocate the Tuffy console cup holder lbs to

Also mounted the intercom inside the console where it’ll stay dry and added an interior light that operates off a mercury switch

Radio/intercom stuff

Found a mounting spot for both the driver and passenger Push To Talk intercom controls

Mounted the intercom jack plate into the rear of the console

Pulled the headsets out to get an idea for cable routing

Fairly tight on the rear of the console but overall a good fit
