Took my 2018 LX 570 in for scheduled service to local Lexus dealer. I am more than a little shocked at how expensive this service is and the issues discovered with my vehicle. I'm OK w/ the items that failed inspection and need service/replacement like the batter, and fuel induction service, rear brake pad replacement and AWD fluid exchange. What I was not prepared for was the leaking front and rear shocks and struts. Is leaking front/rear shocks and struts a common issue with this vehicle?

I could see the seals on your shocks possibly having dry rotted given the low miles and correspondingly low cycling of the shocks. Ya gotta use the poor thing! :)

With that said...easy enough to check yourself to make sure they're not yanking your chain. But for those prices? pfffffffft. Not sure what your use case will be, but I had a full set of Dobinsons IMS shocks with all new springs and Timbren bump stops all installed by my indy for $3,500 and change after tax/shipping/etc.

No way ALL those shocks are leaking at 60k, that’s just unheard of. I would ask them to take a picture of the leaking shocks and send them your way.

Do you have under coating on the truck? Sometimes that’ll make it look like there’s a leak behind the boot when the vehicle is lifted and not compressed at normal ride height

here are 2 pics the tech shared showing the leaks.

You can buy OEM Lexus front shocks for around $300 CAD each online, shipped to your door. I know because I've recently checked. They'll be even cheaper in USD. Best prices seem to be on eBay, with parts coming straight from Japan.

Order a set, get your local independent mechanic to install them (should run you another couple hundred bucks).

Retail on those parts ~900...

Front shocks with 25% sale = 375

Rear shocks with 25% sale = 100
~500 for parts.

Is there $1700 of labor for the front and $1400 of labor for the rear? No clue. Wait for the experts to chime in.
If it was me, I would buy the OEM parts and take it somewhere else.

thanks for sharing these links. I may need to go this route.

That’s minor weepage and can likely go another 30-50k miles with no issues.

AHC has a high fluid volume, so just make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level and periodically check the shocks to ensure an actual leak (dripping) is not occurring.
That's great news and very reassuring. Much appreciate the help.

You have very similar seepage to this guy in this thread, but I would not be concerned at all about those quite yet. Just keep an eye on them to make sure it’s not running down the entire shock, as then you may have an actual issue.

I have a 13 lx. At 140k miles. My struts started leaking. I purchased struts from belle Lexus and they are currently have sale. I purchased mounts from impex Japan. I also got new “globes”. I had them all replaced at otm cruisers. About 3 hour drive from Atlanta.

They stated that my struts were leaking due to one globe being shot.

Bases on ur mileage and photos, ur lx struts do not appear leaking.

I also question the fuel induction service (usually just a profit pack for the dealer) and the “AWD fluid exchange” (what the heck is that?). If I could change one thing in the Toyota/Lexus ecosystem, it would be the service departments.

Fuel induction service is just throttle body cleaning and some additive packs I believe. Certainly nothing essential but it's also not terribly expensive.

I also laughed at AWD fluid. Make sure they change the headlight fluid too.

AWD could be referring to transfer case fluid.
