Took the kids to the playground in the 60. Turned the key to shut it down but it kept running. Tried a few more times - still running. Got home and it shut down fine.

The key and barrel turned fine. I'm assuming the catch at the back of the barrel is worn but before I pull it apart I thought I'd ask you guys.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I had a jeep that would do that. I would just put the tranny in 4th, right foot on brake and slowly release the clutch to stall the engine. I had changed key cylinders and it would still do that. Only once in a while, very intermittent. Never did figure it out, but I assume your coil is still getting power somehow. Good luck.

Do you have any aftermarket alarm?

No alarm. Gonna go have a look now.

Could be the Ign Switch behind the barrel. NLA from Toyota, but good aftermarket available.

That's what I was thinking but I couldn't get the barrel out. Any advice guys?

Ghetto Fix:
Try unplugging the Fuel Cut Solenoid on the carb (green plug thingy) if all else fails. Just remember to plug it back together.
or
Pull a big vacuum hose, like the brake booster or PCV hose while idling. That oughta kill it too.
or
Fix that pesky ignition switch (or rewire it...)
