I am planning on installing a set of REAR FJ60 springs on the FRONT of my FJ40 and I was wondering if anyone could give me a measurement from eyelet to eyelet of a compressed (ride height) REAR spring. HAs anyone done this? Is it difficult? Thanks for any input.

front and rear springs have different lenghts, and leaf count.

you could make work if you re-locate the hangers

V8 in the front and I wanted to get a longer spring hopefully allowing more flex. I will have FJ60 springs in the back as well.

Aren't 40 springs narrower than 60 springs? Or am I dreaming?

A V8 should be lighter than an F motor. Weight really won't matter that much.

Are you building a rock crawler?

They work great! You will have to move the rear mount back, and perhaps the front mount forward a touch. You may also have to re-drill the pin location on the perch.

Great mod, gives a more comfortable ride and somewhat more travel and articulation. I did this about 15 years ago on my BJ42 - and both sets got swapped out for 60 series rears.

I don't remember what the measurements were, but it can fit with just a bit of work. You will want to run updated mounts on the frame if your 40 is older than 1981.
