You might know me from my 60 thread
(Here’s my favorite pic of “the dude”):

Or now @HemiAlex’s 62 thread

And although this vehicle is definitely out of my wheelhouse, I’m excited to own it and have wanted one for awhile. It’s my first V8, tied for my newest vehicle with my 98 Cummins, and the only auto vehicle I’ve owned besides Alex’s 62, and an 85 4runner (that I’m manual swapping).

Last Friday, a fellow in the valley called about a 1FZ I had for sale. We ended up talking cruisers and he mentioned that he had this thing. Long story short, I drove 5 hours south with a 1FZ and $500, then 5 hours north with an LX470. We are both very happy.

How she looked before being sprayed with 3 “turbo” cans of rustoleum black:

Here she is driving off of the trailer. Has been sitting since 2011, but fresh gas and a fresh battery had her driving good as new (after a difficult startup, I’m sure the old gas wasn’t helping that).

After sitting this long, before I start daily driving it, a timing belt, water pump, heater T’s and all fluids and filters are definitely in order.

Also desperately needs a junkyard steering wheel, pass airbag, front seats, some rust repair on the passenger A pillar and roof, and during its short drive I noticed that the power steering no worky, and there was a puddle on the trailer. I bet the rack is blown out.

I should also mention, a previous owner “deleted” the AHC. This will make my life easier, right?

Once it’s mechanically sound, I’m planning on throwing 315s on right out of the gate (after a t bar crank, lift springs, and shocks).

This is against every wise, experienced 100 owners better judgement (and warnings), but I’m sure they just have higher performance standards than me. Can’t be worse than my 130hp, 3:73 geared, 4spd 60 on 33s, right?

Once all this is done, roof tent’s going on it, drawers are going in the back and it’s the new NM and CO ski rig, and probably skiff tow pig. I don’t have a skiff yet but now that I’m a bougie Lexus owner, anything is possible.

A pic of my lovely rustoleum rig at a gas station on the way home:

The interior that could only be described as “factory fresh” juxtaposed against junkyard seats and junkyard steering wheel in Dallas:

Hopefully I can find a nice junkyard LX in Houston tho. We will see!

Deferred maintenance, interior, suspension, tires, light rust repair. Easy peasy.
