i have just bought an old rusty 60 with what looks to be a maxi drive locker vaccum operated.
was just woundering how far i have to move my mounts in
will a 40\45 flange swap with a 60
any tricks a tips

oh and it will be sua

i assume this is a question about the rear axle?!

you'll have to buy new perches and cut off the old ones. make sure you measure carefully so you don't end up with the axle offset to one side. i usually mark the axle with a centerpunch and hammer before cutting off the old perches so i know where they were once they're cut off.

iirc, the 60 frame is wider in the rear than the 40/45 frames and the 60 axle is approx 3" wider than the 40 series counterpart.

should'nt be difficult to figure out and the 60 series ebrake is a much better setup as well so you might want to consider grafting the ebrake assy into the 45 also.

just diff? or whole axle? not sure on the diff only, but for axle the mounts have to be moved in a inch or so. the flanges will most likely be different depending on the year of the 40. if the flange is round, you can drill the pattern you need into it.

hell yes the e brake is going on to. yes the hole axle. where in aus can a buy new perches

If you take a bit of care, you can re-weld the old perches back on, although the centre locating hole is bigger than the 40 series (unless the 45 is different to the 40), since the 60 uses a rubber mounting pad on the springs. You can either use the whole 60 mounting system, or replace the spring centre bolt and grind the head to the right diameter. Well worth the effort though - the increased stability is awesome!

done not hard at all found an old diff with the lower shock mounts on the perches
