There seems to be a little confusion on bellhousings. The late model ones for diesels are all ALUMINUM alloy.
There are three manual transmission systems (all split type transfer case) that bolt to 6 cylinder gas and diesel engines.
#1 the H series, A CAST IRON transmission which include the
H42-- US delivered 3.55:1 first gear both long (extension housing on back end) and short
H41 -- 4.8:1 first gear both long (extension housing on back end) and short
H55-- the typical cast iron 5 speed loved by many and parts supported in North America.
#2 The R series aluminum case
R141 a four speed
R150/151 (15x) a 5 speed . Delivered in 70 series units, similar to other Hilux/Surf/Supra transmissions.
#3 The H150/H151 series, also aluminum case
used in station wagon 80 series and 100 series and the post 2001 70 series HD-FTE engine.
bellhousings part numbers of note.
31111-60230 is a Jan 1990-July2000 1HZ bellhousing for #1 H
-Since the back of the block is the same this also fits the HD-T, HD-FT, and HD-FTE and PZ engines.
31111-60241 is PZ engine one for the bi flywheel --#2 R.
31111-60321 is Aug 1999-up HZ --#2 R.
-Since the back of the block is the same this also fits the HD-T, HD-FT, and HD-FTE and PZ engines.
31111-60250 which goes to 60300 is the 1FZ engine --#3 H15X.
--these later sub up to 60301 and 60302.
31111-60290 is 1HD-FTE 70 series --#3 H15X.
31111-60210 is the 80 series HZ/HD-T --#3 H15X.
Since the numbers are not even close, the 1FZ engine (gas) cannot accept a diesel bellhousing. There is no way other than making your own bellhousing for the 1FZ engine to accept a cast iron (type #1) transmission.
