There is a 6.2L disel engine pulled out of a military humvee for sale here locally. The guy says the engine is low miles. I want to put in a diesel in my 60 series. Does anyone know anything about this?

There is a few on MUD that have done it FLcruiser I think and Gumby although I think Gumby got a bad run with his engine.

Its quite a common swap here in oz. They have whole kits available with custom built larger radiators .
I think its simliar to a 350 sbc swap.
Biggest complaint is the noise on the freeway.
Most seem to use the 6.5 in preference to the 6.2

Not as easy as a Chevy small block, but not bad either. If you want shifters to come up close to existing holes in center of floorboard hump near original locations, the steering box needs spaced of the frame a 1/2" to get engine to drivers side. Getting hydroboost brakes out of a GM truck helps, although I'm told the GM's vac pump will work ok with the Toy brake booster. Stock radiator works fine. Need larger hose outlets put n the radiator. Do your homework about bell housing options for the 6.2. Many gasser bell housings won't accomodate the diesels starter nose. 5 speed overdrive is a must, or you will never want to take it out on the highway. Check out -Mark's Conversion- for their 6.2 kit, although their motor mounts won't work for US LH drive models. Count on drive shaft cut/lengthens which aren't a big deal. Don't get too over optomistic on fuel economy. 16 city, 18 highway, but it's only 1 MPG less than my HJ60. Overall I think it's well suited conversion for a 60.

I guess the aussie customers who have this swap done here usually want to tow boats and caravans around oz when its a 110 dgrees.
Some of the engine converters also offer a mod to auto trans that makes it change gears at higher rpm

Just got back from seeing the engine, I decided to pass on it. Didn`t exactly float my boat. He put it on craigslist nashville I think. Check it out and see if any of you guys are interested.
