Has anyone out there put a chevy 6.2/6.5 in there cruiser? I was thinkin of doing this I have a 6.2 that I rebuilt completely that I was using in my old van until the frame gave out , So it's been sittin waiting for a new ride.

This is a common engine swap over here in Oz, it seems to work very well.
Check out http://www.brunswickdiesels.com.au/new/index.php.
This is one of the local shops in West Australia, might have some useful info. This engine swap is also on my wish list.

Ive heard they are charging up to $23k AUD:eek:
Ok ,its a fully rebuilt engine with some mods to the auto trans and a custom radiator and its guaranteed RTA approved but its seems a lot when near new motors are only $6k
And the noise ,the noise;)

Yes but the fun , the fun!!

I didn't realise they were that expensive, A work friend got the conversion done on a 60 series about 2 yeas ago, cost him $14K.
Maybe the engine rebuild and turbo upgrade is still the best way to go?

I put one in my 60. Works fine for me. I like it. No regrets.
Some people like them. Others don't. There's quite a few threads on this.
There were two 40's with 6.2's in them at GSMTR this year.

There is also adapters to fit a SBC onto a toyota tranny, so the 6.2 should bolt right up.

Besides the frame mounts for the engine.

All I heard on the interweb about these engines is how crappy the fuel injection pumps were. But that could be internet lore.

Engine has the same bolt pattern as the small block. The diesel starter nose doesn't always fit through the hole on bell housing that come with kits or gasser bell housings. Marks Adapters has all the proper conversion parts.
Although these engines are good revvers, If you drive on the highway, you'll want an overdrive. After 2200 RPM, fuel economy drops and noise increases.
94 and up injection pumps are electronic controled and are notorious for cooking the circuit boards in them, which means a new pump and $$$. There are kits to move the circuit board out of the pump to another location to aleviate this problem.
