5th Gen 4Runner to 200 series L.C. thoughts?

That's a bummer and quite unusual to see a failed system. I am surprised at the quote to repair/replace as well but then again I have never priced it out. At least you found this out prior to purchasing it, a major bullet dodged right there.
Yeah I know, I almost didn't believe them, then they showed me and I was really shocked b/c it was pouring out. I was really suprised the car stayed in the neutral position on the drive back to drop it off lol.

Sorry this one didn’t work out, but it is definitely a great testimonial for the value of a pre purchase inspection.
Thanks man, it is what it is. The way I look at it, is someone was looking out for me.

Is there a particular radius you're looking to stay within? It seems like 200 series pop up in the Omaha area from time to time. I know the dealerships I work with always give me a good deal. Perhaps I can help find a solid truck with a good deal. Let me know bro if you're interested. 🤙

Plus with the vehicle shortage right now prices are through the roof. So it may be worthwhile to hold off until things start to cool down.

Just want to drop in and give an update on the LX570 I was looking at. Got the thumbs up from my bank on financing. Scheduled an appointment at the local Lexus dealership yesterday for a pre purchase inspection.
About 30mins into the inspection the service manager and the mechanic who was doing the inspection, came into the lobby and got me. They took me back to the garage and the mechanic told me that the AHC system is shot. He said that when he lifted the vehicle into high mode to check the suspension, AHC fluid started pouring out all over the rear axle. They both told me to just take it back and don't waste my money buying it b/c I'm looking at around $9k to have the AHC system replaced. Surprisingly they didn't charge me for the 30mins. I took her back to the dealership and told the sales manager about this. I also asked him, that if I was able to get it documented from Lexus that the suspension needs replaced, and what the cost was going to be, if he would be able to reduce the price if I was still interested in purchasing the vehicle. He pretty much told me "the price is the price." and the owner will more than likely not budge. So it looks like we are back to square one lol.
I'd send them an e-mail to document the issue. May protect a future buyer because they won't be able to say they weren't aware of the issue.

Crooked dealers...

Hopefully no one buys it sight unseen.
I also find half the time a Toyota dealer doesn't do a very good pre-purchase inspection. Glad they actually saw the leak on this one.

Hello to all :)
New member here after finally purchasing a one owner 2017 200 series Landcruiser
I traded in my 2020 ORP, KDSS equipped 4runner with 19K on the odometer and on my end it had several items including baja design sudron pro and headlight LED, Bilstein/OME 3" lift with UCA lift and 32" cooper st maxx that where a month old. I know dealer gave me peanuts at 41K on my trade in on a 2017 one owner Landcruiser with 70K advertised at 62300.00 . At time of signing, the non negotiable "hidden" fees of add-ons, it was an additional 3K
Problem in San Diego , or the West Coast is finding a Landcruiser at person's budget and inventory.
So price difference with taxes came out at a difference of 31k, (i put 20K down cash) to just finance the 11K and which i happily signed after my long drive from San Diego to Colton Ca.
Quality and build and a vehicle for a family of 5 fits me right.
I am averaging in these 5 days of ownership 14.5 MPG city driving which is adequate vs the 17-18 MPG i had on my lifted 4 runner. And the power, Oh, the power on the landcruiser, WOW :)
Back in 2000, had a really low mileage ARB equipped 60 series that i sold on a now defunct website called land cruisers.com.
A couple from Las Vegas purchased it, they flew down and picked it up on their way to travel to south America and finish in Panama.
Should have kept that one... :(
My take, on comparison , it's a very nice upgrade from 4 runner to 200 series
Now, I'm on a learning curve . Do miss the car-play feature on my 4runner that the landcruiser lacks
Everything else, Landcruiser rocks !!

Congrats. Can’t say I ever miss our 4Runner much, except when I see a nicely built one like yours on the same trail my fat/wide pig of a 200 is on. Then I start daydreaming about 4Runners, FJs, 80 series (and I shyly admit even an old diesel Defender). You’ll enjoy the new one. Have fun with it. A shocking number of us have had all manner of Toyotas of all flavors and keep coming back, so they must have something going for them.

I only miss the sand performance and roll down rear window on the 5th Gen, everything else the LC tops it ten-fold. Congrats on the new to you 200, great color.

My buddy has a Series IIA LR he swapped a turbodiesel into. 29mpg and cruises at 70 no problem. And handles trails great. So much fun. We have two trail bikes stuffed into the back in this pic. Nowhere near as comfortable as my 200 series…but has character!

You can’t go wrong with Toyota.

Bought one of the first 15 4R Pro's to hit Kansas City in late 2014. Put 5 good years and a lot of mods on it. Coming off a 09 Tacoma OR it was awesome, although I loved my Tacoma. Then I bought a bass boat and realized how under powered the v6 was. Fast forward to late 2019, bought a full size trail boss. Pulled my boat like a champ, then I got the first Chevy electrical problem and said F$$k this I am going back to Toyota. Knew for sure I wasn't going to get another 4R due to the v6 and I wasn't a huge Tundra fan. So low and behold the only thing left was a 200 and had always loved Land Cruisers. Found a 10,000 mile 2019 about a month ago and have had a smile on my face the whole time! DO it, you won't regret it!

Oh an dI still own the Trail Boss, been in the shop for a month!

From 19 pro to lc200 no regrets but it’s been less than a month. I do miss my icon stage 6 suspension but it was way more than I needed. Hopefully the dobison mmr will be the perfect middle ground for me. The 4runner is great but the lc200 fits my needs better.

Nicely configured 4Runner
still lot to learn on driving/ slowly configuring the Landcruiser
previously learned alot from Tacoma and 4runner forums on previous last three rides
Have not been punching the throttle to keep the dash monitor 14.5 mpg
brakes would be a concern on how long they’ll last
per Toyota service from previous owner, he seemed to go thru brakes at a ratio of Teo to one and had front end brakes fine 5k mikes ago
it’s a big lump of weight that it carries to stop this beast
need to read on this forum more on brakes and pads
Saw several times Monica LC200 race the Baja 1000 , if brakes they have stop such beast at speed , should last way more than OEM brakes

4runner is a great vehicle. I have a 2018 4runner and my wife the LC200. The cruiser is just so much more and a better vehicle they are hard to compare. Now if I can just get her to give up the LC to me I’ll be set!

Just read the whole thread. I have a 2017 4Runner TRD Pro Cement with 93k miles, a Gobi rack, Warn winch, and sliders that I've been thinking about selling due to the increased used market right now. Went and test drove a couple 2016+ LX570s today, and man, much, much nicer than the 4R. Comparing it to the Pro, the V8 was great, the seats were super comfortable, love the ventilated seats, it doesn't look bigger on the outside, but it feels a touch larger inside. The 4R has AT tires with 30k miles on them, so the LX was much quieter, and smoother. The roof mounted AC vents (2nd/3rd row), and third row seats are a big reason I'm considering upgrading. Went and checked out a Limited Highlander today just because, and quickly decided it was a no go.

Couldn't quite get the dealer to meet the trade in price, and wouldn't at all budge on the LX (2018, 30k miles, Nebula w/ Cabernet, roof bars, black wheels, $73k). I think the higher mileage on the 4R is the biggest detractor. May have to sell the 4R private party, and see what I can find in the 2016+ LXs later.

Thanks, took me a little time to figure out how I wanted mod my 4runner now I’m trying to decide on which way to go with the lc.
