I have to make the decision between buying racing style seats and using a 5 point seatbelt or buying bucket seats with a regular 3 point lap and shoulder seatbelt. From your experience what would you recommend?

If it's for off road use only, 5 point. For driving around town... hopping and out, 3.

If you've ever tried to hop in out of a rig with a 5 point, you would love the three point seat belt.

If you are going to do 5 point seatbelts, please mount them correctly.

When I used 5 point comp belts in my FJ40, during off roaring I could not reach forward to shift tranny or transfer-case with belts attached, Since I'm shifting constantly when wheeling I ended up not using the shoulder harnesses.

I use mine religiously. MUCH safer than a lap belt.

If you have to unbolt yourself to shift you have put your shifters in the wrong place.

Normally I use just my lap belt, but when the trail gets a little challenging I use my lap belt and shoulder harness. Usually there is a lull before most challenging sections of a trial (unless you're up front) and I have time to add in the shoulder harnesses.
