We're up to 15 rigs so far. Gonna be fun! :steer:

Last time I drove it with snow, there wasn't much snow on the Catalina side. It was all on the other side as we drove to the Gap. Strap on your cajones, you'll be fine.

But like Dawg says, last year we had a brand new (hadn't even made a payment) Taco go thru. He took a little minor damage but never got stuck. What happened to that guy? He hasn't been back on the forum since right after that run.

Well - I have been on the forum but just as an occasional lurker. My brother has owned a cruiser since 1971, and I learned how to drive in my Dad's 1974 cruiser, but I did not think ya'll need participation from a Taco driver so I keep silent.

My "minor damage" was only a torn off mudflap, but the other three didn't last much longer anyway. I lost the second one in New Mexico, and the third one on another Gap trip.

My cat and I have made two more Gap runs since running it with you folks, and the Taco ain't quite stock anymore. I have photos of last year's Gap run (and two more) at:

iwannaTaco's photos and albums on webshots

I had a blast with you last year and you really took good care of me - Thanks!

I know you want to keep your rig count down, so I won't beg you to take me this time;) - but if you need another winch available I would love to go.

I'm putting you on the list.

I would love to go.

Oh hell yeah! Good to see you stuck around, don't be such a stranger! We thought we'd scared you off. :D

I would like to join you guys for this one. Sounds like a hoot.

Keep checking the weather!

it's been snowing and raining like crazy in Reddington Pass all day. I just ran the Chimney rock trail. The creek is getting high and the whole place is getting snowed in. If this continues for a couple days, the Gap may get dangerous.

***NOT A JOKE***

I reserve the right to turn around at any time I feel the Gap trail is getting dangerous. I agree with Shotts, that shelf road on the Catalina side will be scary if it's icy or snowy and I won't do it. Actually there's plenty of spots before we even get there that could be pretty bad if icy.
If we get some good sun for a couple days before the run, it should be fine.

Call me puss if ya like, but I don't like to take unnecessary risks.

Nothin puss about it. If it doesn't feel right then it shouldn't be done. We will just have to see

I still plan on showing up and checking it out. If it gets bad, I'll make the call.
If it is nasty, we could always run around to San Manuel and up Reddington road and I could lead you guys on Chimney Rock or over to Chiva. One way or the other we're wheeling.

Puss:flipoff2:....

but you're right, safety first.

Santa aint the only one with a tiny pink sack full of daisies:princess:

fixed it for ya.

don't think i'll be able to do the preview run we talked about, sarah might kill me. i'm all for the gap unless more than a couple people might die, but chimney rock would be a good time full of water and snow.

now that I have my top and doors installed, I can start thinking of driving to Tucson without freezing to death

how about we do the backside of Mt. Lemon if there is too much snow on the shelf road ?

I have always wanted to go up the backside.....

(no, this is not code )

Might as well run that in my Mazda 626 and save gas.

EDIT: it is awfully beautiful back there, and worth the trip - you should aim to do it sometime. just that it's not quite a "run."

Back side of Mt Lemmon is nice but not a 4x4 road and there is a point where a gate gets locked and you can never tell if it's gonna be locked or not until you get there. More than likely, with the recent weather and snow on the mountain, it will be locked.
