looking into doing a 4bt into my 74 fj40. Ive found were someone else did this and used a ranger torgue splitter and his stock 4speed and tcase. Is this a good option, i mean will my stock tranny and tcase hold up to the 4bt even after i tune the 4bt up alittle more than stock? Or would it just be better to go nv4500 with toyota split tcase.

Lots of guys have SBC's hooked to the Toyota transmission. They develop probably more power than the 4b-t....... I dunno.

Only one way to find out if it will blow to tranny or not! haha. I would run it man. Sounds like a fun project.

Hey man, i know you would do it. but im trying to create a reliable rig unlike that piece of metal that you destroy:D .

If you didnt figure it out, this is Hovis. and i had been wanting to do this 4bt forever now and after seeing brandons 4bt buggy at dpg, i really want to do it, just trying to find my best/cheapest option. take it easy Rex:zilla:

I would say the 4bt would be pretty dang reliable. Also it looked like it would be pretty easy to fit in the engine bay. Did Brandon tell you where you could fine one of those bread trucks?

yeah man, my stock f motor has GOT TO GO! ive got quiet a few places to get one, also trying to get my hands on a good nv4500 and a split tcase. got any ideas?

4500 are pretty nice trannys .. but expensive, why not with a 3500 4x4 ? also mated to a split case .. maybe are few more options in this way ..

I'm pretty sure that can handle the power of a stock 4BT in your rig ..
