Im thinking about a 4BT diesel does any body know if someone make's an adapter kit to bolt to the standard 4 speed land cruiser tyranny?

Get a 4BT out of a breadvan that came with a Chevy tranny and then use an Advance Adapters bellhousing adapter to mate the H41/H42.

Check out 4BT swaps if you haven't already.

Good thread: 4BT to Toyota LandCruiser Transmission Tech

Have you ever driven a truck with a 4bt? They are terrible. Super loud and a ton of vibration. I wheel with a guy that has one on his cruiser and he regrets swapping it in. Its so loud he makes his little kid wear earmuffs when riding in it. They are cool for like the first couple of miles. But drive a hour or so and you'll go insane. 4bt swaps were really popular like 5 or 10 years ago because of the potential fuel mileage until people drove their 4bt swapped rigs and discovered how bad they are.

Agreed - the FJ55 I heard with one was deafening and unsettling, as far as vibration.

really! That sucks. my HJ45 engine is going to cost more than I anticipated and the only rebuild kit I found is in Canada!

I am using a Ranger OD set up for my 4bt to stock 40 tranny. If vibe and noise is a concern like the folks above describe, a fj40 may not be the most comfortable vehicle out there.

When that 4bt fires off, it certainly feels like there is substance under the hood. Just hope the rest of the driveline can hold up to the power of the cummins

I'm seeing more and more negative reviews about 4BT conversions. I'd swap in a Mercedes Diesel or simply Turbo a 3B Diesel

It actually would be going in an LHD troopy HJ45 does anybody have a comment on a 6 Liter GM LS ??. I figure if i am going to spend a ton of money i mite as well get the right motor instead of jumping into something that I wont be happy with. any input would be appreciated:hmm:
