Hey there,
I need some advice from you guys familiar with/ or running a cummins 4bt/6bt. My dad found a guy who is selling 4bt's for $500 and 6bt's for $900 running with the turbo, bell housing, pump, etc. They are out of industrial sized forklifts, and he said that he gets a handful a year that are in box vans. Here are my my questions: could I put one of these forklift 4bt's in my 60? And also how much do these motors typically go for out of a forklift? Or is it smart to wait and get one out of a box/bread van?

McGuire, the guy will give me 6BT's for $500...not $900. They are considered cores since they most likely need to be rebuilt. One of the 4's pictured above does run, but it's blowing smoke.

It would be better to wait for one out of a stepvan (4bt) mostly due to the injection pump. Depending on what chassis if comes from it will most likely have either a Ford adapter or GM adapter to give you options on what tranny to run. A great resource for all things 4bt will be 4btswaps.com

Hey boots4 thanks for the reply. That's what I figured, I'm just a noob when it comes to the diesel stuff. I will definitely take a look at 4btswaps.com and start doing some research. On another note, do you think it would be a good move to pick up these two 4bts out of the forklifts (one runs and the other doesn't) for $900?
