4.88 Ring gear - Centre pin problem (1 Viewer)

Finally I received my 4.88 ring gears in the mail, totally excited I had them fitted into the thrid member, but now I have a problem!!!!

The centre pin that holds the 2 planetary gears cannot slide in as the ring gear is thicker than the oem gear... any ideas on how to solve this one?

OK, just found it under the search, sorry for the panic! Seems I have to grind some gears.... feel sick having to grind brand new gears like that!

FRom what I know and have had to do, anything 4.56 and taller you have to do some grinding. I did on mine anywas.

Correct. Take a die grinder and remove just enough to get the pin in. This doesn't affect the running of the gear set at all though, it is quite diconcerting grinding away at a new gear!

Its still scary the amout you have to take off of a 4.88 set. But mine is still running up and down the road.

With tears in my eyes I ground away.......

WOW that's a LOT or grinding!
