The GRJ300 has 4.30 diff chunks, w/ lockers or sans... who is going to be first?

Unknowns....

Will the LX600 accept the alternative ratio w/o issues. Some late model Tacoma trucks limit top speed when gears are swapped in. Toyota is getting tighter and tighter with operational parameters.

The Elockers have a weird actuation system, at least on the Tacoma. Toyota applies max voltage when the locker coil is first activated, then decreases it down to 8 or 9 volts just to keep it engaged. This appears to be for efficiency, as bench activated lockers seem to have no issue running 12 volts for extended periods. BUT....?

Knowns....

Two switches and 12 volts will lock em'.

Torquey goodness.

Locked front and rear axle goodness.

Roughly $3500 + the ride for the locking diffs complete.
 
The F Sport Torsen is now available. As expected, it comes as a complete 3.30 diff, or the differential alone.

Complete chunk # 41110-60D20
Diff alone # 41301-60240

3.30’s or 4.30’s?
 
Any idea how similar/different the front is from the prior gen? My old 2n gen Tundra already has 4.30 diffs. A front OEM E-locker would be fantastic. The Eaton is $1500 just for the differential unit. I sometimes build my own diffs - so I've got all the tools and press set, but it's still a lot of time and work to do a clamshell. A pre-built one would be worth the extra cost IMO. And a Toyota OEM version would be even better.

I think the electronics are do-able without too much work. I can design a small PCB that should mimic the Toyota engagement voltage - if anyone is really interested I could put together a simple diagram of what you'd need for a simple time-delay circuit to apply full voltage and drop back to 9v after a pre-set clock period. There's almost certainly off-the-shelf PCBs that will do this with a little bit of DIY modification.
 
Knowing Toyota, it will have a different mounting system that will prevent easy bolt in. Can it done? Probably with cutting and welding. Also note there is no disconnect for the jack shaft on this new generation... so no true low drag 2WD if you want to run this front locker, the diff and driveshaft will always spin. The same system that creates a locking diff is now utilized for disconnect on the driver’s side axle.

Despite the above , I’d like to hear more about a diff controller.
 
Tundra and 300 (right side) have the same differential gasket, this is despite the part numbers being different.

How about the JDM offroad package LX600? It has lockers.

Is the Tundra diffs a carry over? They use to have 3.90 available in the last generation
