I am currently running 4:56, h55f tranny, ranger torque splitter, on 35's with a 383 stroker V8. LOVE IT on and off the road!
As far as your drive shafts...... The rear will be fine however, the front you will of course need a cut and turn done and then since your 60 is a 1983 you already have the double Cardon shaft for the front. The front will need about 4 1/2 inches added to it.
One thing I recommend is leaving the stock springs. If they are a bit flat....GREAT. leave them that way. Dont have them re-arched or add any. I found that the rig rides better with the flatter spring verses the heavy arch.
Have fun with it, good project. Also LEHIGUY hit right with the welder recomendation of a lincoln, miller, or hobart as a fine choice as the amperage is way higher then the Bunk companies putting out 110 welders.

I was going to use my flat stock springs but heard that the rig will ride great but that they wont last long... any idea on that?

I've read people add the long add a leafs and remove the 2 smallest leaf springs on the bottom to help keep the height down, and this combo keeps the springs durable in soa form.

I'd like a nice soft ride, but also don't want it so soft that in turns it feels tipsy.

and regarding the welding, I'm having one of the local mud members doing the work so I won't be endangering anyone with my shoddy welds:D

I used my extremely flat pair of springs for my SOA conversion.

Cushy ride, low c.o.g., FAR FROM TIPSY, no problems to report.

I used a Proffit's kit and did not have to modify either dirveshaft, I probably should, but I didn't have to. Good luck with the build!

I would say about 8 to 10 inches, it sits tall, looks beefy! All the guys that stop by the shop love it. now it needs to hit some trail with us!

Truck is done!! I'm really happy with the truck, and just need to get new drive shafts and a little deathwobble figured out.

sit's a bit high Hoping the springs will sag a little, what do you guys think? Also hoping that when I add bumpers it'll come down a bit.

anyone who can't fab like me but wants a soa in the Los Angeles area, should definitely give Octavio a consideration, I'm sure the pics speak for themselves.
